Reviewed from notes.
The appearance was a burnt copper almost red color with just a cap of a little white head. Quickly died off, no lace.
The aroma had a good blend of earthy spice to grassiness with some pine and citrusy tones of the hops coating a nice caramel/toffee malt base.
The flavor blended the prior aromatics together pretty nice - sweet to spicy to earthy. Ends up delving into the aftertaste to ride away in the finish.
The feel was about medium bodied, perhaps just a touch under with a fair sessionability about it. Delicate carbonation. ABV felt good.
Overall, pretty nice American red ale. Not sure why they say it leans towards it’s Belgian roots, but oh well, I’d still have again even if they’re trying to bringing in a different crowd. But I will say this, fans of Troeg’s HopBack might like this one.
