Sampled from 0.33 l bottle from ’De Bierkoning’ at ’Beertemple’, shared with markoijelena and PotjeBier. Sweetish, slightly roasty aroma of nougat, hazelnut, vanilla, strawberries, cherries, waffles and a touch of blackcurrant. Sweet, malty and quite roasty taste of nougat, pralines, milk chocolate, sweet coffee, hazelnut, vanilla, strawberry pie, almond, some blackcurrant and waffles, followed by a rather long, moderately roasty-bitter, slightly warming-alcoholic finish. Medium to full body, creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Lives up to the expectations, way better than the regular version, less sweet and way more complex. Like it a lot!

Draft @ Beerlovers Bar, Antwerp. Dark brown/black colour, brown foam. Nose of caramel, pecan nuts, toffee sweetness. Complex nose, too sweet, too much cocoa and chocolate. I don’t like cocoa and chocolate in beer. Not my cup of tea. Too oily, cloying sweet.

(bottle, 33cl) Pitch black colour with a brown foamy layer. Mildly roasted malty aroma with notes of dark chocolate, cocos, hints of Cognac, burnt wood, coal, as well as a mildly dried fruity touch. Roasty bitter and mildly sweet flavour, full bodied, creamy on the tongue. Roast-malty, chocolate-laden taste with notes of berries, nuts, hints of coffee, molasses, vanilla and loads of booze towards the finish. 20.VI.16

Keg at Omnipollos Hatt, Stockholm. Black with creamy beige head. Aroma of milk chocolate powder, vanillin and pears. Super sweet with full body and dense, rounded mouthfeel. Sugar, syrup and saccharine, caramel and cognac follows. So sweet it makes baklava seem like a diet dish. Cloying artificial and oily. Burning saccharine dominate the finish. Really can’t drink this.

Deep black with brown head. Aroma is smoke, coconut, coffee, roast, burnt nuts. Taste is intense coffee bitterness, some booze and carbonation induced sourness. Spicy finish, rather short, and after a while only bitterness and booze. Overall too much coffee for me and too much licquer.

Bottle. Intense Choco liquor, brandy praline aroma, darker chocolate than the regular version. Black, creamy brown. Intense coffee, coconut, liquor, orange peel, raspberry, smoke, wood, cognac, intense but complex. I’m a BA grump, but this is interesting.

Bottle shared at Maakun’s. Black with thin dark tan head. Sweet roasted chocolate malts. Big roasted pecan, cashew, vanilla, dark fruitiness, cappuccino, salty and peaty barrels. Big marshmallow sweet, mild bitter, light saltiness. Full body, silky smooth and supple, very dense aroma’s, low carbonation and rich chocolatey/nutty finish. Really nice. --- Beer aliased from original tick of Noa Pecan Mud Cake - Double Barrel on 18 Dec 2017 at 10:59 - Score: 9. Original review text: 4.4
