Na enige maanden rijpen wordt het boeket van smaken explosief in de mond. Schenk het bier bij een temperatuur tussen 5 en 8°C. De smaak komt het meest tot zijn recht in in een bol of breed bier-/wijnglas.

Dubbel - in a series of two beers named after the mythical snake eating its own tail as a reference to the cyclic nature of the world - flavoured with 'local herbs' (sadly undisclosed) and brewed at BCB. Thanks tderoeck for sharing. Moussey, medium thick, pale greyish beige, opening head on a dark chestnut brown robe with burgundy-reddish glow. Aroma of brown bread dough, Ersatz chocolate, banana peel, raisin, stewed apple, old herbarium, something meaty, blue plum, nutmeg and something oddly 'green' (ground ivy?) probably representing the local herb. Fruity, rounded onset, sweet, bit sourish and simple, softly carbonated; hints of raisin, banana and pear, not bubblegummy or otherwise 'unnatural' though. Slick caramelly and brown-bready core, thinly sliced sourdoughy sourishness underneath, lingering dark fruit notes (blue plum again) and a floral to herbal hop bitterish element providing balance and even extending quite long into the finish. Toasty and spicy flavours remain - I guess I will never know what that 'local herb' is, but what is the point anyway of advertising an ingredient in such a way without telling us what it is? Anyway, generally speaking this is a fairly solid, but unsurprising and 'tame' dubbel.

Clear dark brown beer, small creamy beige head, a little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: very malty, yeasty, lots of overripe banana, some caramel, sweet impression. MF: lively carbon, medium to light body. Taste: sweet sugary start, caramel, ersatz chocolate, bitter touch, gentle roast, soft acidity, a bit spicy, yeasty, banana peel. Aftertaste: bitter, coffee, caramel, soft roast, slightly metallic, banana, hay, ok.
