Our decadent Oatmeal Stout lovingly aged in Bourbon barrels. Beautiful chocolate, espresso and vanilla-bourbon aromas hold your nose hostage. Rich dark chocolate truffle, bourbon and espresso create a dangerously smooth and incredibly drinkable barrel aged Oatmeal Stout. Hoarding tendencies may occur.

05.05.2018, tap @ Bergen Craft Beer Festival:
Nice fizzy-creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly sweet, dark sugar, marshmallows, butterscotch, lactose, caramel, oak, mild bourbon, vanilla, chocolate. Taste is slightly sweet mineraly, oak, bourbon, weeds, dark sugar, grass, butterscotch, lactose, bark, vanilla, booze, burnt toast, minerals. Medium bitterness, slightly dry boozy mouthfeel. Fair enough, kind of boring.

Poured from 650mL bottle (vintage: 2016). Black with tan head. Oak, bourbon, dark chocolate upfront, but quickly dissipates into a mild lactose finish. Starts strong, but finishes light. As good as the barrel aging is, it might actually detract due to the disparate typing of strong bourbon chocolate and light sweet lactose (ie: perhaps it's a combination that doesn't quite fit). Not quite up to par with their other barrel aged vintages. Update: tried the 2017 version on tap and my thoughts have not changed. Overall, still pretty good, but below standard for this brewery.
