Bamberg’s specialty as pale special edition. The classic smoked beer with a difference: for the pale Märzen, we produce a lighter smoked malt in the Schlenkerla malthouse, which ensures a bright, rich amber color. The pale Märzen matures for months in historic rock cellars and is bottled unfiltered for a particularly full-bodied taste.

16oz can. Not really pale, at least not what I was assuming. Amber-brown body, Really lovely beer. Mild and easy drinking. I could go for the more over the top smoke tone of their other beer though. This is milder. Still has a fantastic flavor, body. Delicious, though to me sort of lacks the definition of most of their releases.

Can to mug.
Appearance: rich rustic semi-dark copper/amber color with a two and a half fingers of off-white foamy head which dissipated fairly slow to leave just a little bit of concave lace which slid with the sips.
Aroma: bacon and ham up front with side notes of caramel, some apples, slight woody smokiness and a touch of light earthy hops
Flavor: blends all the prior noted aromas together smoky and sweet and adds in an ever slight touch of brown sugar; super mild aftertaste of bacon, ham and some brown sugar
Texture: medium bodied; fairly sessionable; very smooth along my tongue; finishes semi-crisp with fantastic earthy and brown sugary notes
Overall: as much as I love this beer, and love what this brewer puts out it does bother me that this beer was not marketed to the Europeans first. If the brewer ever reads this beer, you need to dance with the hands that brung ya, don't forget your original fans.
