Bottle shared at THT. Clear mahogany with beige head. Cinnamon, sweet malts, dried cherries, light raisins, sweet toffee, dry sugary nuts. Quite fruity and spicy actually, with lots of cinnamon and Christmas bread. Medium sweet and bitter. Over medium bodied with slick feel and soft fizzy carbonation. Nice.

One of the countless and ongoing barrel aging projects by Kees, bottle from the Hopduvel in Ghent shared by Jan, cheers! Loose, irregular, pale yellowish-tan, quickly thinning and dissolving head, magohany brown robe with ruddy hue. Aroma of kahlua, almonds soaked in rum, dried fig, raw cinnamon, toasted coconut, candied orange peel, peanut oil, wet oak and indeed delicate sherry piercing through. Sweet onset, raisin and marmelade accents with a sourish undercurrent, softly carbonated; supple, lean, bit resiny mouthfeel. Caramelly, rounded, slick, bit nutty malt sweetness with mildly bitterish toasted side notes. Finish adds warming, sherry- or even brandy-like alcohol flavour, soft vanilla-ish oak and a spicy hop bitter accent; flavours of butterscotch, cinnamon, hazelnut and sherry linger at the back. Maltiness prevails here, as expected from a Scotch, testifying Kees Bubberman's mastership when it comes to big, malty craft beer styles. Very well done.
