10oz goblet at Galaxy Hut pours an oily black with a ring of off white head. Nose has some burnt coffee bean, quality chocolate, licorice, malt, some dried fruit, caramel. Flavor has a lot of sweetness, burnt caramel, malt, bread crust, some Raisinette, some coffee as the backbone. Full bodied, lightly sweet finish.

Draft at the source. Jet black color, thick brown head like the crema atop a good espresso. Nice aroma of smoky espresso. Taste is smooth, rich sweet caramel and coffee. Good body, something rarely seen in a coffee beer. Our tasting group was divided on this one, but I loved it because it was head and shoulders above most other coffee beers I’ve tried. And because I had visited Loco Joe’s that morning and loved it. AND because the name of the beer gave me hints of what the beer would be like - no crap hipster mystery name!

Draft at the brewery. Poured a very dark color, almost pitch black, with a thick tan head. Profile of the beer looks like actual espresso. Aroma was nice caramel, vanilla notes. Roasted coffee. Plenty of caramel notes, caramel macchiato notes.

Nitro at the brewery. Pours near black with a large creamy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of french vanilla gas station coffee with a bit of roast and caramel. The taste is the same with mild dark fruits and roasted malt. Medium bodied, low carbonation, decent balance.
