Bottle from Shenandoah Hops. Opaque dar brown color, dark brown head that settles quickly. Aroma of sour coffee, cocoa. Taste has sourdough brownies, vanilla, dryish chocolate finish. I’m not normally a fan of dark sours, but this one is easier to drink than most.

Keg at the brewery. Pours a dark brown with a thin head. Good head retention. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, mild tartness. Aroma of tart berries, citrus, roasted malt, caramel, whiskey. Medium bodied, disjointed and off balance.

Pours brown-black with a medium khaki head that diminishes steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of dark fruit, malt and chocolate. Medium to full body with flavors of smoked malt, earthy yeast and dark fruit. Slight bourbon in the background. The finish is sweet with a chocolate malt and fruity yeast aftertaste. Above average overall.
