An imperial porter brewed with Qualia Coffee Rye barrel aged coffee beans. Immediately you are struck by a huge black coffee component in the nose, and this accompanies you through the first sip, across your palate, and through the finish. Big roasty malt notes continue with a complex rye character on the finish.

750 ml bottle poured into a 3 Stars snifter. Black with 1.5 fingers of tan head. Aromas of coffee, dark chocolate, some rye and spices. Tastes of dark chocolate, coffee, light spice. Medium-full body with a dry finish. Well masked alcohol. Very nice.

There’s a little too much Qualia in this and not enough porter. Barrel aged coffee beans wins new hipster gimmick of the week award though. Otherwise some roast. Some caramel. Light bitter finish. Consistency a little syrupy. Tap at meridian pint.

Draft at The Big Hunt. Opaque maroon brown color, bright brown head. Aroma of coffee poured over oatmeal poured over cocoa with licorice dipped into it briefly. Taste is boozy burnt espresso, licorice. Light body. A big beer. Nice on a cold winter’s evening, or for breakfast.
