’Tis the Season for Cheer.
Happy Holidays from the "Little Brewery" in Shiner, TX. We hope you enjoy your Shiner Cheer, an Old World Dunkelweizen brewed with Texas peaches and roasted pecans. The malty flavors of this dark wheat ale are enhanced through the use of malted barley and wheat. And Kräusening ensures a smoothness that makes the subtle peach and pecan flavors all the more satisfying. May your days be merry and bright and your Shiner be cold.

Dark in the glass with a beige head. The nose is smooth and sweet. The beer starts very fruity and smooth. Lots of peaches here, a bit sticky and sweet. The pecan nuts are very subtle in the dry malt tastable, smooth and easy to drink. The aftertaste is long, peaches, dry malt, nice sweetness.
A nice easy to drink beer which I think will fit perfect to a christmas-dinner. But for me it is a bit too sweet and sticky. --> 10/12/10/10

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 1/25/2014. Pours almost crystal clear deep ruby brown color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Slight spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of big peach, caramel, toffee, brown bread, wheat, floral, light banana, and herbal earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with big peach presence and moderate malt balance; with good strength. Taste of big peach, banana, caramel, toffee, brown bread, wheat, clove, pepper, floral, light nuttiness, and herbal earthiness. No bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of peach, banana, caramel, toffee, brown bread, wheat, clove, and herbal earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice balance and robustness of peach, yeast, and malt flavors; with zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly creamy, smooth, and slightly syrupy mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice fruited dunkelweizen. Good balance and robustness of fruit, malt, and yeast flavors; and very smooth to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Draft. A- Wheat, malts, peaches, nuts, spices. A- Dark red color, hazy liquid, white head. T- Peaches, grapefruit, apricot, wheat, malty. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, fruity finish. O- I could not taste the pecan notes, but the fruit notes were very prominent. A good beer just not what I expect for a beer this time of year.

Pours a dark brown colored body with a two finger tan foamy head in the weizen glass, but more of a one finger head in the pint glass, adequate lacing sticks to the sides of the glass; the aroma has some sweet peachiness, light spice, and a little bit of malt, not getting the \"esters\" normally smelled in a dunkelweizen; the flavor is very peachy with more spice coming out, light pecan comes in, peach aftertaste, peachy and malty dry finish, still no \"esters\", not as easy on the palate as I expected, but there is a degree of sessionability on this one if one really wanted to have this with food; overall - good American Dark Wheat Ale that I would have again

Bottle. Kroger. CHO. Pours a clear brown with a large tan frothy head. Smells of sour fruit and candy. Interesting peach flavor up front followed by a nutty pecan flavor.

On tap at Yard House Houston. It pours a clear, dark amber to light brown body and a finger thick, dense off-white head. The aroma has a touch of dried grass, along with lots of apricot sweets. A faint spiced hint too. It’s quite sweet on the palate, lots of apricot flavor, some caramel and a little bitterness and spiciness. Medium body, soft and pleasant carbonation and a short fruity finish. A decent one, but it fails to give me the Christmas spirit. 131114

Bottle sample at a tasting at Ariel’s place. Thanks Ariel. Clear deep nutty amber-brown. Aroma of peach juice and some pecan. Sweetish flavor of peaches (slightly artificial), malt, a bit of caramel and nutty notes. Medium-bodied. Drinkable.
