Dank u wel for all the help, Gast! It’s been very relevant! An expansive Flanders-esque blend as complex, assertive, an infectious as its namesake - although quite a bit more acidic and less injury prone. Proost!

67% ale aged in Cabernet Sauvignon barrels, 17% ale aged in bourbon barrels, 8% ale aged in rum barrels, & 8% ale aged in Chardonnay barrels.

12oz bottle thanks to BeerandBlues2. Poured a light hazy ruby color with a small tan head. Aroma was notes of brown sugar, light acidic notes. Flavor was light dark fruits, tart sour cherries, touch of rum and bourbon notes in this one. Alcohol was nice and mellow, tartness was tasty. Light vinous notes.

From the March 2014 Pittsburgh Ratebeer gathering. +++ sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a very dark brown color with orange highlights and a small beige head that faded quickly and left no lacing. The aroma was sour, tart, acidic, astringent and vinegary. The flavor was tart, and astringent with notes of vinegar, caramel and nut. Long tart and astringent vinegar finish. Light body. Disappointing.

Bottle thanks to the Dood! Pours a deep reddish amber with a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a strong dry red wine note with acidic red fruits and a good amount of barrel. Flavor starts with strong sour red grapes and a dry red wine note with a bit of barrel backing.

12 oz. bottle, pours a deep dark amber with a tiny beige head. Aroma brings out a mix of different barrels, with red wine and bourbon upfront, with a touch of rum further back - along with a touch of toffee and subtle tart red fruits. Flavour brings out red wine notes upfront, with the bourbon in the back and not much of the rum detectable. There's also some tart red fruits, sort bloke a Flanders red. The blend is done quite well, with the wine winning out on the flavours mostly. Finishes on notes of vinegar, slight red fruits and red wine. Dry, tart mouthfeel with a fairly thin body. Great stuff.

Bottle. Dark brown, flat. Nose of chocolate, fruit, funk, vinegar, oak barrel. sour and acetic, cherr, fruit, wood, wine. COmplex flavors that are not immediately likeable but grew on me until I was digging it a lot.

Chilled 12 oz. brown bottle poured into a sample glass. Pours dark brown with small light brown head. Medium body and low carbonation. Taste is sour, oak, and a hint of dark malt. I prefered Immitis over this.

Sampled from a bottle that leaked during shipping on a trade. Sour currant, oak, and a hint of chocolate. Opaque brown, headless. Powerfully sour and intense. Currant and cranberry are dominant, grape skins toward the end. Not a whole lot perceptible from the various barrel treatments. Absolutely not quaffable and must be sipped due to its intensity. I’m disappointed once again with Avery. They are clearly technically proficient, but the beers they brew just aren’t all that enjoyable.
