Saison Brewed with Brewery Ommegang from Cooperstown, New York

Collaboration No. 4 - Saison celebrates our partnership with Duvel Moortgat and our mutual respect for the brewers of Ommegang. A base of pale malt, corn, oats, rye and wheat is spiced with coriander, orange and lemon peel, and grains of paradise. The resulting wort is fermented separately with the house Belgian yeast of each brewery to allow the character of each yeast to shine. The final beers were blended before packaging.

Bottled. I barely remember this from awhile ago but it brought a heavy funk and was good.

bottle, old notes - Hazy yellow-orange pour, yeasty, spicy, bready aroma. Flavor is also yeasty and spicy with grainy malt, some citrus character, and a somewhat dry finish. Pretty tasty.

Bottle shared in Martha’s Vineyard with the family. Pours unclear orange-gold with a creamy, off-white head. The aroma holds mellow yeast expression, lightly toasted sugars, melon and tangerine, wheat bread. Medium sweet flavour with subtle caramel, more wheat bread, a little hay, nice citrusy accents. Medium bodied with fine, smooth carbonation. Nicely balanced finish, with nips of tangerine meringue, a little more wheat bread, soft phenolics, biscuits. Great stuff overall. Not too complex, but smooth and very drinkable.

pours a hazy dirty amber from a bottle. Classic saison carbonation and yeastiness. Lots of fruity notes in the nose and mouth. Good beer.

Sample at the Inventory Reduction Beer Tasting on 08/08/2015. Hazy copper color with a medium off-white head that diminishes steadily to a film. Partial rings of lacing. The aroma is fruity and floral with yeast and malt notes. Medium body with flavors of herbal yeast, caramel malt and mild hops. The finish is fruity with a grassy hops and yeast aftertaste. Pretty good all around.

That really good bottle shop near Springfield, Mass. Pours orange bubbly with the white head. Aroma is light bits of farmhouse funk, with spice, and nice bits of yeast. Taste is somewhat sweet with a good bit of spiciness. The yeast carries it, as it should with a saison.

Bottle, 75cl corked. A clear, dark golden beer topped by a small, off-white head. Rather fruity aroma with tropical fruits, some soap and a touch of alcohol. White sugar. Fruity flavor with white sugar and some tropical fruits. Full body and a soft carbonation. Some alcohol warmth. Long fruity finish with some alcohol and white sugar. Rather disappointing this one, fortunatley far from off. 150807
