Bottle from Bierwinkel Hop, Amersfoort. Aroma is dark malt with caramel, dark bread, notes of chocolate and dried fruits. Flavour is sweet with a fairly bitter finish. Body is medium. Solid Doppelbock, I like the touch of chocolate.

Tap Bokbierfestival, Amsterdam: Biggest suprice of the festival mine opinion. Very black, and very sweet. Buy and you will know.

Pours a wonderful, clear, intense dark red to light brown. Slightest off-white dense head, good enough persistence and lacing. Aroma shows dark bread and caramel malts, a (pleasant) slight dusty hint, notes of red/dried fruits in the background. Not especially complex but clean and quite strong. Taste has malty notes as per aroma and background red/dried fruits notes (with the slightest bit of sourness to them). Taste is overall high in sweetness with earthy notes bringing balance in finish and aftertaste. Medium bodied with quite low carbonation (possibly a bit lower than usual per style), resulting in a smooth, semi-creamy mouthfeel. Overall definitely a good doppelbock.

Bottle. Dark brown colored. Malty aroma and flavor with chocolate and plums. Sweetish, medium to full bodied. Just a bit of roasted malt. Apple. Good and tasty bock.

Draft at FOB, Rimini, Italy. Pours light plum, very cloudy, with minimal whitish foam. Aroma is burnt caramel, malty. Body is fairly dense with moderate carbonation. But I expected more. Taste is pretty sweet, with minimal bitterness. Finish is fairly long.

Donker roodbruin bier met schuim. Smaak is licht zuur (iets te lang laten staan misschien?) en fruitig met iets van gedroogd fruit en bessen. Aparte maar zeker niet slechte smaak.

Bottle @ Home. Pours dark brown with an offwhite head. Aroma of malt, caramel, little bread, nuts, dried fruit. Flavor is light sweet, malty, caramel, bread, dried fruit, nuts, light alcohol. Medium body, average carbonation, light sweet finish. 120916

*Old rating, best before 12.10.11. Malzig-süßlicher, schön vollmundiger Doppelbock. Leichte Herbe im Hauptteil, frisch-dunkel, leichte Anklänge an Blockmalz. Süßlich-malziger Nachgeschmack, Blockmalz mit feiner Herbe, dabei nicht zu süß. Lecker.

Sehr schöne dukle Farbe und angenehm trocken-röstmalziger Geruch. Der Antrunk ist vollmundig-süffig, leicht malzig-trocken, aber angenehm abgewogen. Im Hauptteil wird das Bier deutlich trockener und malziger, dabei aber angenehm bleibend, ganz leicht dickflüssig, aber die 7,3% sind nicht zu schmecken. Zum Nachgeschmack hin verbindet sich die angenehm trockene und ganz leicht süßlich-klebrige Malznote sehr angenehm mit einer milden, aber deutlichen Herbe. Auf der Zunge bleibt eine malzig-süßliche, aber abgewogen hopfig-herbe Note.
