Dit jaar wilden we iets anders proberen voor onze Piece of Cake-serie. Toen we begonnen na te denken over het brouwen van een op Tarte Tatin geïnspireerde pastry stout, kwamen onze brouwers met een beter passend idee: een pastry barleywine. In plaats van nog een imperial pastry stout te brouwen, creëerden we een bier met een rijk, vol mondgevoel en smaken die doen denken aan een heerlijke Tarte Tatin-taart. Denk aan complexe lagen van mout, plakkerige karamel, biscuit en appel. Perfect om te nippen of als dessertbier.

Sampled at Brabants Bierfestival 2026, Oirschot. Black. Virtually no head. Some milk chocolate notes, caramel and a tad sweet. 7-ish score for me.

Geprobeerd op het Brabants Speciaalbier Festival in Oirschot met LiekevdV, Inoven, Roelzie en Benzai. Het is een troebel donkerbruin bier met een medium beige schuim. Het heeft een aroma van mout en rook. De smaak is vol zoet, caramel en appel.

0.33l can many thanks to Lore. Mahogany body with a beige head. Aroma and taste of vanilla, orange zest, loads of toffee, some pears, dates and candi sugar. Very nice dessert beer.

Opaque brown colour, steady beige head. Sweetish caramel, apple aroma. Medium to full-bodied. Malty, barleywineish, sweetish, caramel, apple flavour. Like drinking liquid candy with apple vibes. Quite flat. Not bad not great.
