Depart is brewed entirely from triticale, barley, and wheat we regeneratively grow in the fields next to our brewhouse.
Atypical grist for a lager, sure, but we approach growing a new tradition with an eagerness to explore what makes sense for our here and now. Sometimes that means departing from past traditions we know and love.
Triticale is a hybrid of wheat (Triticum) and rye (Secale). Each side of the wheat/rye family plays a role in the beer’s flavor. The wheat offers a rich and full character to the body, while the rye finishes dry with a playful spice note. The U.S. hops elevate the layers of malt flavors with top notes of citrus and herb. Interesting, delightful, and balanced.

16oz can pours a hazy corn gold with some creamy white head. Nose is sweet and corny, but very grainy, earthy even. Flavors follow. Its got legs too. Chewy, dry finish. Easy drinker.
