Barrel Konducta Vol. 1 was formulated with Rick Nelson from the Oedipus Brewery in Amsterdam. Based on one of his own rye beers, this collaboration has a grist of two-row, wheat, and roasted rye which dominates in the nose. French Aramis and Nelson Sauvin hops from New Zealand are used in the kettle and as a light dryhop, giving the brew layers of flavor. The dry finish is offset a bit by the bigger mouthfeel lent by the rye. Look for two different barrel aged versions (vol. 2 & 3) with blackberry and nectarine in 2015 and 2016! 5.25%

4 oz draft pour at ChurchKey. Hazy golden brown with off-white head. Aromas of pine, floral notes, rye, spices. Tastes of floral notes, pine, rye, toast. Medium body with a dry finish. Tastes more like a toasty rye pale ale than saison to me.

Excellent stuff. Comes together very well. Light note of bretta. Golden hazy pour. A touch too much barrel. Finishes a little bitter, some sourness from citrus. Tap at Churchkey.

Draft at Churchkey’s 5th anniversary, courtesy of staff, thanks! Hazy golden color, huge fluffy head with good retention and solid lacing. Aroma is like a huge duststorm during the dustbowl, complex, earthy, many layers with black pepper, bright summer fruit, whore’s perfume, straw. Taste has dusty pepper and barnyard hay. Delicious.

On tap at Upright, pours a hazy golden with a small white head. Aroma is fantastic, with complex yeasts and various spices. Flavour is complex, with toasted rye, complex yeast, and roast. Deep complexity and very elegant. Excellent stuff.
