On tap as part of a flight at the brewery in Cumberland. Appearance is opaque black (dark brown at bottom of the glass), no sparkle, finger width beige head fading to a ring and trace lacing. Aroma is strong coffee, lactose and chocolate. Taste is strong coffee, a bit to the bitter side, milder lactose and chocolate. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with smooth texture, soft carbonation and finish as taste. Overall pretty much as advertised. A bit more bitter in the flavor than I’d like.

Can from the taproom. Dark brown pour and frothy head. Nose is coffee and caramel. Tastes of light coffee, some earth, light milky tones. Little underwhelming and slightly misses the classic Rhode Island Coffee Milk feel.

5 oz. taster @ R.I. Brewfest 2 February 2013. Nose is a deep roasted barley and malt. Lots of chocolate. Taste is the same but doubled. Hints of lactose sugar. Notes of coffee. Deep layers of malt and burnt barley. Carbonation is just right giving the stout a creamy texture. I returned for a second sample and complimented the brewer on a fine job. Currently only available on draft.
