500ml Bottle - Dark brown with a haze and red tinges. Chocolate, raisins and berries in the aroma. Fruity taste with chocolate, berries and some faint smoky hints. Some roasted and nutty notes can be detected in the finish. Very nice indeed. Almost like a mild or a light porter.

Bottle from Beers Of Europe. Pours a murky dark caramel brown colour with a medium sized beige head. Lots of sediment in the glass. Aromas of caramel, nuts, tobacco and light smokey notes. Taste has more caramel, nuts, tobacco and roasted malts. Nicely balanced beer with a little roasty bitterness on the finish. Medium to full body. Nice beer.

33 cl. fliptop bottle @ home, bought @ Trinkgut, Kleve. Dark brown with almost no head at all. Bready caramel aroma. Sweet taste with a soft bitter finish. Quite thick bodied for its ABV.

Beer foams heavily and eventually leaves a big frothy head. Dark copper color. Somewhat caramelly aroma and flavor with a hint of licorice. Just a bit of iron and a coffee-like bitterness. Average altbier, in spite of being unfiltered and in a nice pot stopper bottle. Hint of nutmeg in the aroma. Hopbitter flavor, also malty, but overruled by the spicyness of this beer. Nutmeg, hops and hint of pepper and metal in the well made altbier

Bottle, 1 liter. Color: Copper, off-white head. Aroma: Caramel, malt. Tast: Caramel, medium sweet, malty. Moderate to medium bitter. ok, but not one of the best German Alt beers in my opinion.

Bottle @ vriendenweekend. Slightly boring, not bad. Malts. Slightly cardboard. Beats Bavaria pils.

Shared bottle at home. Pours hazy copper with dense off-white head. Aroma of wort, bread, some coffee and chocolate. Tastes slightly sweet with a bit more than balancing bitterness. Medium bodied, slightly bitter finish.

Pours brown from the bottle. Tall, foamy off white crown that soon subsides. Aroma is earthy, a bit smokey, light tobacco. Taste has a notable ashy bitterness, mild tobacco, faint sourness at the end. Body is medium to light, carbonation is moderate. Overall, it does it’s thing well. Pleasant.

0.5l bottle. Hazy copper body with a yolk head. Aroma of toast, hay and a bit of floral hops. Taste of hay, bread, floral hops and toast. Way less caramel than in the regular Boltens Alt. OK beer.
