Average altbier. A little more tasty and grainy than a usual lager, but not very interesting.

Not the best Altbier. Very light on flavour. Weak malts and bread. Quite bitter in the finish.

Dobry Alt z niesamowitą wysoką pianą, w dodadku bardzo zagęszczoną. Kolor ciemnego bursztynu. W smkaku karmelowo goryczkowe. Jedyny minus to słabo wyczuwalny aromat

500ml bottle. Clear amber colour with average to huge, microporic frothy, well lacing, off-white head. Moderately toasty, minimally spicy, dark malt aroma with slightly grassy hop note. Taste is grainy, grassy, slightly bitter; collapses a bit to a relatively thin, slightly watery, minimally sweet malt lemonade.

My favourite Alt beer when I lived near the brewery, well before BA’s came into being. I was very pleased to see this and the Ur-Alt for sale at ’Beers of Europe’ and ordered some straight away. Brown 500ml bottle, best before 5th Jul 09, drank 16th Mar 09. Poured into my old Bolten Alt 0.2 litre tankard three times, how we have both missed seeing it full of Alt. Beautiful deep amber, nut brown colour with a huge foaming off-white creamy head. The beer is clear and just a joy to see again. Never had a big nose, it however does possess an aroma of malted barley and hops, just enough to let you know you have a very good Alt in your hand (if you were blind and couldn’t see). The taste is also wonderful, a mix of malted biscuits (unsweetened), toasted brown bread and lightly smoked ham. I must admit it seemed a bit thinner than I thought I remembered, so its body let it down a little. Good flavour retension though, so it isn’t weak, just lacking that inner strenght I can recall. Very drinkable and I’m very glad I found it again.

50cl bottle @ Cafe Buitenlust, shared with Countbeer. Clear amber color, big creamy off-white to beige head. Smell malts, wort. Tastes the same plus a slight bitterness. Low carbo, low body.
