Pours a black from a bottle, thick khaki head. Roasty molasses/pumpernickel aroma. Flavor adds layers of coffee, and cooked currants. Pretty well-balanced, a little acidic, not overly sweet, well-balanced bitterness. Very good beer.

$12.49 bomber from Wine Warehouse, #1581/2000. Ghost 515 if any of that matters. Pours black, somewhat thick, inch + of dark brown head. Aroma is dark chocolates, floral notes, rubber, bourbon, vanilla, cherry. Flavor is smooth & creamy dark chocolate, vanilla, cherry. Velvety and very smooth. The alcohol is there but it’s not biting. Quite tasty.

A lot of barrel in this one that dominates the beer. Very bitter finish, exaggerated by oak. Roast and dark chocolate evident but bourbon rules. Black pour with ok head and lacing. Tap at brewpub thanks to Gendv138.

Draft (Ghost 030, BHS Release 1) at Adroit Theory poured into a 3 ounce snifter during the Black Heart Society Pickup Party. Pours black with tan head and some brown hues around the glass. Good lacing. Aromas of dark chocolate, light bourbon, roast, oak. Tasting notes of dark chocolate, light bourbon, vanilla, bitter hops, oak, light smoke, roast. Full body with a dry finish. Low carbonation, oily mouthfeel. More oak than bourbon, bourbon notes are a bit mild.
