Spontanée is a tart, complex and funky wheat ale, inspired by the traditional lambics of Belgium. Brewed with local malt and aged hops, then rested in our koelschip in Cascade Locks to capture the local flora needed to begin its spontaneous fermentation. This labor of love rewards us with a wonderfully complex beer, with bright citrus notes and deep earthy funk. A toast to the greats that inspire us daily. Santé!

On tap at pFriem - Milwaukie, pours a clear blonde with a small white head. Aroma is complex, with lots of buggy farmhouse notes, aged hops, hay, and oak. Flavour is quite pungent, with intense leather, tart citrus, some acidity, light acetone, and oak. Very low-level phenols and acetone prevent this from being what it could, though there’s doubtless complexity and depth. Good but could be considerably improved.

On tap at pFriem - Milwaukie. Pours a slightly hazy blonde with a white head. Funky nose, some notes of musty orange peels and acetone. Flavour has musty citrus peels, damp moldy wood, acetone, and some harsh bitterness on the finish. Solid effort, but quite rough, especially that acetone.
