BOTTLE 33 CL. Clear red-brown, beige head. Huge, almost medicinal, peaty aroma is dominating everything else. The taste, just as weird and full of peat, which tastes almost like petrol. Some malts behind all of this. Feels thin and overcarbonated. It really needs to get used to.

Flaske 330ml fra Systembolaget Umeå - Wasagallerian. Drukket i Skibotn 3 Jul 15. Gyldenbrun. Lavt tett skum som blir nesten helt borte. Kraftig whiskyaroma. Litt sur, bålaktig. Smaken forsterker det sure bålpreget. Bra - men mer røykwhisky enn øl.

(Bottle) Dark reddish amber colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, smoky nose with peat, smoked ham, brown bread, tar and a touch of heather honey. Malty, smoky taste with notes of tar, peat, smoked ham, bread, a touch of orange peel and a finish where peat smoke overshadows a gentle bitterness. Medium body, quite dry. Well made with a solid peat smoke and tar character. Possibly a bit one-dimensional, and something of an acquired taste. Quite nice.

Big beige head doesn’t last. Clear reddish body with carbonation. Peat smoke and toffee aroma with creosote and chocolate notes, as well as earth and barnyard. Interesting. Recognizably similar to Scottish peated beers, like Ola Dubh, and not at all like the smoke character in Gotlandsdricke. Sweetish peat smoke toffee and licorice taste with earthy creosote notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dryish peat smoke, earth and roastiness aftertaste with creosote and barnyard notes. Lovely beer with lots of flavour. (0.33l bottle, from Systembolaget Karlstad.)

Aug ’14. As my last beer in Sweden, I found a 0.33 l bottle of this in Systembolaget in Upplands Väsby. It poured clear brown body with small head. Very smoked aroma, besides typical pleasant notes there were some burnt plastic, too. Flavor was lightly sweetish, again smoked, wood, peat, charcoal, just a hint of smoked ham. Thinner in body, so did not gave away really complex feel. Finish was shorter, slightly sour, smokey with almost only peat. Pleasant, but a bit too peaty and that simplicity doesn’t help it. Just okay.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a clear, dark amber with a smallish, off-white head. The nose is heavy, heavy peat, so much iodine here it almost makes me puke. Medium body, very dry, lowish carbonation, ashy and again heavy notes of iodine and sea salt. I loathe peat - does it show? 021214
