Pour is a black with a large tan head. Aroma is roasted malt with a nice hit of bitter bakers chocolate. Flavor is roasted male with a little minor chocolate and this finishes a bit watery and thin. A minor roast is left on the tongue as this goes down but the thin mouth feel lets this one down. Decent and above par stout but just not a rich enough mouth feel to give this a better rating.

A dark stout with a thin mocha head. In aroma, sweet chocolate malt with light coffee notes, grassy hops, nice and classic stout. In mouth, a nice bitter chocolate malt with light coffee notes, grassy hops, burned toasts, very nice. On tap at brewery.

Sample in a flight at the Unknown Brewery. Pours black, with practically no head. Lots of coffee, chalky malt, bitter chocolate, and harsh hopping: resin and pine. A little sweet, with a significant and unpleasant bitterness. Heavy body, sticky, chalky, and dry. This stout is harsh and difficult. I’m not impressed.

In the can @ home, thanks to jcnielsen for sending. Pours a deep brown appearance with a huge brown head. The aroma is pretty nice with notes of toasted nuts, smoke, char, and coffee. Medium body. Moderate plus bitterness. Moderate low sweetness. Lots of char and tar on the tongue. A bit smoky. Pretty good.

Location: Nitro at World of Beer, Charlotte, 1/19/15

Aroma: This one has a mostly coffee and chocolate aroma.
Appearance: Brown color with a thick, creamy, lasting brown head and heavy, coating lace.
Flavor: Balanced between sweetness and roast, mildly bitter.
Palate: It feels creamy and smooth, super easy drinking, with a lightly dry finish.
Overall Impression: This was a pretty nice one. I honestly really didn't expect this level of quality. The nitro treats this well.
