While it may be difficult to fully appreciate outside of its homeland, the breadth and diversity of the Czech brewing tradition extends far beyond a certain Ur-lager. Hardywood Bohemian Pils gives a nod to the wonderfully fresh and complex unfiltered pale lagers being produced in the brewpubs of Prague. Brewed with an heirloom variety of floor-malted barley from the Czech Republic, Hardywood Bohemian Pils features a rich, bready maltiness balanced by smooth bitterness and spiciness from the exclusive use of Czech Saaz hops. A traditional Czech lager yeast strain ties the whole package together, creating a refreshingly clean yet characterful flavor profile with a crisp finish. Na zdraví!

Cask 4oz pour at Churchkey. Poured a very clear golden color with a soapy white head. Aroma is crisp malts, grassy notes of Saaz hops. Flavor is not too grassy, it’s clean, not skunky like a lot of fellow pilseners often are. Refreshing.

Nice load of saaz hops that makes for a great Bohemian pilsener. Pours golden with good head and lacing and soft carbonation on cask. Crisp bitter finish, nice package and well done for style. Cask at Churchkey, thanks to Travlr for a taste of this.

Location: Draft at Hardywood, 5/2/14

Aroma: It has a clean pilsner hop aroma, with some bread, spice, and fruit notes
Appearance: It pours a murky, bright orange color with a small white head
Flavor: The flavor is light, crisp, and clean, a little sweetness, and a light bitterness
Palate: It has a nice, clean mouthfeel, with an average carbonation, and a clean, light dry finish
Overall Impression: I thought this was a solid pils, but it wasn't an amazing beer for me. It could see this working as a good porch session. It is clean, light, and drinkable.
