Draft @ BCTC, Ommegang Brewery. August, 8, 2015. Dark brown in color, thin tan head. Aromas are light cocoa, light roast and toast, toffee, ash.

Flavor of cocoa, sweet and bitter cocoa, touches of roast, white chocolate hints. Medium body with a charred grain texture. Finish is shows some Belgian yeast. What the hell is a black Tripel anyhow??

No aroma. Ruby black, thin head. Somewhat tart raisin and prune. Finishes with twigs and grape seeds. Light body, moderate carbonation. Pretty solid example of a Belgiam Christmas beer.

Kind of a random experiment. Certainly no tripel. Pours black with good head and lacing. Some floral yeast here and some light roast. Some sweetness in finish. Tap at Black Squirrel.

Draft at the source. Poured a nearly pitch black color, with a small off-white head. Aroma was notes of light chocolate, some licorice, dried fruits. Flavor was roasted malts, with dried fruit, character of dried cherries. I probably should have let this one warm a bit, as it got real interesting towards the end. Alcohol almost completely hidden - I’ll check this one out again real soon if I can snag some of it around the area.
