Smells VERY sweet. Maybe not cloyingly-so, but sweet nonetheless. Brown sugar galore with, perhaps, an eggy chocolate custard character. Nothing off-putting, low roast. Having not grown up in Quebec, I've never had a tart au sucre, but I can imagine this comes quite close, at least in the nose.
Oh wow, that's...interesting. And I think pretty well-done, if a bit heavy-handed on the lactose. There's a rich, yet somehow delicate chocolate-espresso character that balances the sweetness nicely. And yes, it's sweet, but not too much so, I don't think. Great coffee-like acidity balances, lactose gives a creamy character and wheat adds a bit of depth. Flavors are well-done, as seems to be the strength of Le Bazaar, and it's not a glass of thin seltzer, which is another strength of theirs. Would happily try more of their dessert stout series.
