Total Wine, Fairfax can: pours near black with a beige head. Aroma is dark chocolate and roasted malts. Taste is lightly sweet. Flaky like a dark chocolate bar, if that makes sense. But I really like the sweetnes here in its subtlety. Pretty good.

From a 12 oz can shared at home. Pours a clear cola with a tan head. Roasty nose. Flavors of chocolate and leather. Bitter roasted finish.

Purchased at Bottles and Cans in Chicago, IL; enjoyed on a nice summer night watching baseball after playing in a company softball game. I can’t believe that there are 30+ reviews and no one mentions Against Me. Super happy to have tried this one. Appearance is pitch black, moderate consistency, light white rim. Aroma of cocoa, chocolate, nuts, smells light but good. Taste is pretty good, finishes dry, not too sweet for the style, nice chocolate notes. Happy to have tried this!

Chocolates: both milk and dark and a hefty hint of smokiness. Tasty - I will be having you again!

This was poured into a nonic pint glass.
The appearance was an all black color with a one finger white to off white foamy head. Light lacing runs the gamut in a speckled sort of slightly spider web way around the glass.
The smell had a grainy and black licorice running over top of some light roasted caramel malts. Dark chocolate and milk chocolate combine to come out slightly.
The taste was roasty and definitely grainy with an ample amount of the sweet black licorice leading into the aftertaste and having a slightly drying effect in the finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a good sessionability about it. Carbonated as a stout, this one sat fairly well and ended up smoothing somewhat out to a refined graininess from the wheat.
Overall, I say this was a pretty good \"wheat\" stout that I could have again.

Rich deep dark brown coloured body with a bit of a brown and even ruby at the bottom tint, all with a very thin, half centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of vanilla, yeast, wheat, coriander seed, grass and quite a bit of hay noticeable. Medium-bodied; Distinct oatmeal and rich grain flavour at first with a good deep bittering coffee and roasted malt element, with the alcohol and pungency coming soon afterward. Aftertaste is a a very deep and bitter flavour of licorice, anise and a bit of absinthe - not too pleasant. Overall, a decent beer, but the lack of depth and classiness is lacking, which is too bad, because this could be great. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Springfield, Virginia on 18-June-2014 for US2,29 sampled at home in Washington on 25-April-2015.

12oz can. Poured a dark, semi-viscous black color with a small white head. Aroma was lots of roast, some light coffee notes, malts, some dark fruits. Flavor was intense bitterness, light hop notes in there. Very dry, but with a lower ABV, there’s a lot of room for considering this very drinkable, with a great price point.

Draft at Champion. Dark brownish black with light tan head. Aromas of licorice, cocoa, chocolate, malt. Tastes of licorice, light caramel, chocolate, malt. Medium body with a dry finish.
