Our collaboration with New Columbia Distillers and our first barrel aged beer. We aged Ornette fir two months in Ginavit barrels that originally held Laird and Company Apple Brandy. The result brings fresh cut dill and lemon zest, along with an oaky sweetness.

Draft at the source on release day, first at the bar, beat the hipsters. Cloudy yellow color, thin white head with delicate lacing. Aroma of vanilla, lemon zest, light spice, seeds, herbs. Taste is smooth spirits and vanilla on a background of light funk. Soooo easy to drink...

A barrel bomb. A lot of whatever Ginavit is and not much Grisette. The regular ornette is much better. Pours lager blonde without much head or lacing. Smells like some kind or booze and finishes with light alcohol lightness. Tap at brewpub.

12oz pour at the brewery pours a totally clear gold with some thin white head. Nose is odd but intriguing, mild soap, mild perfume, distinctly herby, mild grape, a little candy. Flavor is also interesting, grape candy, some ice wine, concentrated apple, mild herb, juniper is there, a little sawdust. Clean finish. Not sure the base totally held up to the barrel.

Draft at Right Proper poured into a tulip. Pours a hazy pale yellow color with about a finger of off-white head, decent lacing. Aromas of gin, citrus, funk, light white wine. Tasting notes of gin, light funk, apples, light vanilla and oak, white wine. Thin mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Medium body with a dry finish. Pretty nice, interesting barrel character on top of the base beer.
