Nice to see this style in these parts. Draft at the source. Brown color, tan head. Aroma is nutty, burnt herbal. Taste is spiced, herbal brown bread. Tasty stuff.

2oz pour at the brewery pours a hazy deep amber with a lot of creamy off white head. Nose has a lot of meaty smoke, earthy, roasted mushroom, a little sun dried tomato, over baked bread. Flavor is very very meaty, like beef jerky, straight smoke, burnt cheese, caramel, a little medicine, smoked carrots. Full, meaty finish.

This is the first beer I’ve had of this style, so I can’t really say whether it lives up to the rest or not. Very smokey and pretty well integrated at that. Juniper berries temper out the smoke and give it a good balance. Finishes with light sweetness and bitterness, palate is pretty interesting. Tap at brewpub.
