Cold IPA, 12°, 5,7% ABV

Po loňské společné várce v Bayreuthu v pivovaru Maisel & Friends tentokrát zavítali sládci z Horních Frank do pražských Vysočan. Výsledkem je jemně, téměř až schrödingerovsky nakouřená Cold IPA – množství nakouřeného sladu je totiž právě takové, že až do otevření nevíte, zda ho opravdu pocítíte. Chmeleno odrůdami Solero, Strata a Hallertau Blanc Cryo, které přinášejí aroma připomínající bílé víno ve stylu Sauvignon Blanc s náznaky citrusů a jahod. Název Via Carolina odkazuje na starou obchodní stezku spojující Prahu a Norimberk.

500ml can. Clear, yellow-ish, pale golden colour with average, frothy, rapidly osteoporosing, minimally lacing, snow white head. Grassy and slightly citrusy fruity, hoppy aroma, slightly spicy, pale malty background, hints of lemon, green lemon, weak smoky whiffs of burnt hay. Taste is slightly spicy, pale malty, citrusy fruity and slightly grassy hoppy, hints of lemon, lemon peel, a touch of cracker.
Oily texture, smooth and slightly greasy, simultaneously dry palate, medium, scattered, mildly prickly carbonation.
Quite monotonous, neither overly complex nor intense - a bit disappointing.

Thin bod, low carbo, why no bubbles? Med-high bitter, med-light sweet. Subtle oaky smoke, med-light generic citrusy and grassy hops. Overall drinkable, cleanish, but boring. Goodish, non greatish.

Can (on sale as it was banged up, lol) from Beergeek Karlín. Clearish shiny paler golden body, off-white head. Lovely aroma, stone fruitiness, citrusy (yuzu hahah), light resin. Lean, dry taste, creamy smoke, resin, stone fruit touches, maybe yellow plum, white grapes, quite a bit of bitterness. I mean... fun experiment but 0.5l would be a bit much perhaps.

0.5 l can thanks to Marko who brought it from Prague, shared with Ogi and him. Pale golden to yellow, small white head. Aroma is grainy, bready, earthy, slightly herbal, slightly mineral and a hint of vegetable. Light to medium body, soft mineral notes, bready, light butter, pronounced herbal bitterness. Soft astringency. Dry finish.

Draught (Sibeeria Taproom, Prague) - Yellow with a white head. Grapes, pineapple and gooseberries in the aroma. Hoppy and fairly dry taste with grapes dominating proceedings alongside grapefruit and melon.
