Chimay Yellow is a refreshing beer that immediately offers rich aromas, with elegantly harmonious spicy and fruity notes. On the nose, it boasts the freshness of citrus fruits, enhanced by a distinct zest of cardamom and coriander. A touch of red apple provides a gentle, fruity touch, while subtle nuances of aniseed and vanilla further enhance its aromatic complexity. This opulence is prolonged on the palate. The spiciness strikes a perfect balance with the liveliness of the citrus fruits. The dry and refined finish fades gently to an elegant spicy note.

330ml bottle. Minimally milky, yellow-ish, golden colour with average, frothy, slowly osteoporosing, minimally lacing, white head. Mildly yeasty spicy, yeasty fruity and floral aroma, pale malty background, some chamomile, apricot, mirabelle, whiffs of coriander and wasabi. Taste is sweet-ish, minimally biscuity, pale malty, yeasty spicy and yeasty fruity, slightly citrusy fruity hoppy and minimally floral, notes of apricot and mirabelle, lemon and mandarine, coriander and wasabi, some chamomile, a touch of honey.
Watery texture, slightly dry palate, medium, dense, prickly carbonation.
Very nice composition, fairly complex, nevertheless highly drinkable, quite hoppy and "modern" for a Trappist Ale - good.
Didn't really know what to expect from this. In the end it is no surprise that Chimay delivers at a decent level of quality. Everything else would do harm to the brand, of course. Somehow more Witbier than Belgian Blond and therefore maybe wrong labeled. Could have been a disappointment but isn't.

Cask at Hops, Crewe. Pours a very dark ruby with a medium sized foamy cream head and good lacing. Berry fruits to the fore in the aroma, plus cola and toffee. In the mouth it is quite bitter with a deep creamy texture. Flavour has floral hops, citrus, berries and some underlying malts. Hints of nuts and marmalade come through later leading to a decidedly dry and tangy finish. This is decent – an unusual combination of flavours and the expected Union depth.

Very good, dense, just yellowish head over very carbonated, lightly hazy golden beer. Coriander, pale malts. Much coriander. Too much coriander. Coriander, bit soapy flavour. Faint white candi sugar and restsugars. Very creamy feel, slick, velvety head. In essence, this is the 175 reappearing as a regular portfolio beer. And exactly as poor. --- Beer aliased from original tick of 175 (Blond/Blonde) on 01 Nov 2025 at 09:49 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 6 | Flavor - 5 | Texture - 7 | Overall - 6. Original review text: Good dense white head over very carbonated, faintly veiled golden beer. Perfumey with quite a lot of coriander, fake citrus. Soupy. Coriandersoup, even way more than usual from Chimay. Fake citrus in loco of complex aromas. Almost overcarbonated, slick, medium bodied; creamy feel from the head. Bon Dieu, sauvez-nous! A trappist brewery making a special anniversary beer, and turning out something dull as from an international macro. Completely commercial, even for Chimay standards. Txs to Stef!

750 ml bottle. Pours a bright amber with moderate head. Aromas of fruity Belgian yeast, dried stoned fruit, and toasted malts. Flavors follow same with andditional coriander and some phenolics; plus more grainy malts. Good.
