English IPA

Earlier in the year we were invited for a lovely Jaunt through the bines at the Hukins hop farm. Never one to turn down an afternoon in the Kent sunshine, we happily obliged. What unfolded was a plan to use a new kind of hop, a new development that would capture fresh hop flavours for year round enjoyment and an opportunity to make something special that was too good to pass up. Jaunt is an English IPA brewed with classic British Maris Otter and Caramel malts and hopped solely with UK Cascade processed by Hukins hops in their proprietary sustainable method. The beer pours bright gold with a tight white head and gives soft caramel and red fruit on the nose. The palate is clean and slightly sweet with a rounded bitterness that leaves a crisp finish. Best enjoyed after a brisk walk or around a large table with friends.

Kwg at the source. A clear copper gold. Thinnest foamy translucent white head. Aroma is floral and perfumed. A light bitterness and underlying malts. Flavourwise it's got a sourness throughout. Light bitterness. Underlying caramel sweetness. As I drink more grains and malts float to the top. Yeah.... I get the English IPA reference as it does have twiggy bitter brewery straits. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Soft-average carbonation with a lazy fizz. Long dry somewhat astringent finish. Low key stuff. Pleasent at best. We're BD bought out by Marstons?
