Tap at taproom. Pitch black, small brownish head. Strong bourbon, coffee, vanilla nose. Full-bodied. Vanilla, roasted coffee, sticky, some alcohol and bourbon. Doesn't feel like lager. Complex and sippable. Black ... its all black ...

Quite a beer. Aroma is black patent malt, leather, whiskey, cocoa, licorice. Flavor’s like nose with cocoa coming out more along with some sweet, the whiskey, a bit of tang and bitter in the finish. Great body. Nicely done.

Draft at the brewery during RBWG 2014 - Asheville. Pours oily black-brown with a bubbly tan head. Rich roasted malts in the aroma, some bitter cocoa, earth. Medium sweet flavour with hearty bitter chocolate, charred malts, dirt, ash. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Gritty baking cocoa in the finish, more dark chocolate, lingering roast. Good stuff.

Sample at Bad Parenting Club (plus a few dirty aunt/uncles?!): NC Beer Edition on 03/28/2015. Brown-black color with a medium thick tan head that diminishes gradually to a film. Small sticky patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and hops. Medium body with flavors of roast malt, dark chocolate and earthy hops. The finish is sweet with a chocolate malt aftertaste. Pretty good all around.
