Draught at Canary Square, 2/8/17.
Dark copper with lighter golden hues and a high clarity. Beige head atop is small-to-medium-sized and shows moderate to low retention.
Fruity in the nose, though joined by equal amounts of bready, lightly caramel-accented malts. Yellow fruits with even a light citrus hint, vanilla and a touch of alcohol mixing with the esters, on the finish. Pretty faithful rendition of a BdG, though this one is fruitier and much more dry than many of the strongly malt-forward examples. No funny stuff going on though, which is nice (high alpha hops, mixed ferm tartness/funk).
Dry and with grainy interludes in the mouth but with some softer malt textures as it warms. Vanilla and caramel with light honey and lots of orange rind, cherry, white pepper and apple through the middle. Some light sharpness/booziness is by biggest complaint and it seems to stem from the relative dryness and heavy reliance on specialty malts here which aren’t able to completely soak up/mask the alcohol. Otherwise, some interesting yeast esters and a low but engaging/tight carbonation with no flaw.

Murky golden amber color. Floral aroma, light funk. Taste is herbal flowers. Tasty.
