Draft at the brewpub. Had the appearance of muddy chocolate milk with chunkies, no head or lacing, lots of particles that stick to the glass. A truly ugly beer. Aroma of milk chocolate and booze. Taste is gritty and strongly spiked chocolate milk. Something has gone wrong with this batch, and I don’t think it should have been served.

Deep pitch black coloured body with a brown head and a fully opaque body. Aroma of strong rotten egg, milk, sour cherries, cream and a bit of spices - but the egg is the most pungent, and the worst to smell. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong pungent eggy flavour with cream and sour flavours following soon behind. Not a great taste and the off-flavours are more common than the mild malt and chocolate that are vaguely noticeable. Aftertaste has more of those funky flavours, but the alcohol comes out, along with the lactic feeling and taste as well. Overall, pretty much a miss in my book - but I’d be interested in trying one of their bigger beers again to see if they can get it right? I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Kybecca in Fredericksburg, Virginia on 31-May-2008, sampled on 26-November-2008.

I’d like to withhold where I obtained this beer because the store is of much higher quality than the beer. They shouldn’t be held responsible. Pours brown with medium head and moderate lacing. Aroma is weak caramel, yeast and coffee and STRONG ROTTEN EGG!!! Horrible aroma! Bitter taste of coffee and yeast. Very light for an impy stout, almost like a porter. Drinkable, barely.

22 oz bottle. Pours a dark, near black color with a tan head. The aroma is malts with chocolate and dried fruits. It was extremely easy to drink when you factor in the listed 12% alcohol content. Wow. Flavor is bitter dark chocolate, molasses, roasted malts, and a touch of coffee. Didn’t have any problems with this bottle.

Bottle at Capital Ale House - Innsbrook. Fairly light bodied murky brown body with a small tan head. Fruity, slightly sour chocolate malt aroma. Sweet chocolate and slightly sour fruit flavor, light hints of molassas with a strong bitter finish. Medium-light body with fairly low carbonation, thin almost watery consistency.
