To create it, Gabe and his team blended three different beers, each of them already exceptional on its own:
1) A double oaked version of their beloved A Deal With the Devil aged a total of 31 months in Bernheim original wheat whiskey, Hemingway rye whiskey, and Sazerac rye whiskey barrels.
2) A double oaked Double Dark Ale aged for 35 months in Willett rye whiskey and Calumet Farms bourbon barrels.
3) A BA Belgian Quad aged 35 months in Calumet Farms bourbon barrels.
Then they conditioned the blend on organic cacao nibs from Ghana to amp up the fudgy vibes.

Tasting Notes
Expect massive chocolate notes and intense barrel character — look for nuances of caramel dripping over hints of rye spice with whispers of oak and estery yeasts adding complexity. And like so many massive Anchorage beers, you can anticipate a dangerously smooth finish at 18.34% ABV.

19th June 2026Dealing With The Devil again tasting at CBJ. Thanks to me. Opaque dark brown beer, small and very short lived bubbly tan head. Airy palate, a little dry, modest fine carbonation. Soft rich dark malts, a little dark chocolate and a fair bit of umami and coffee. Mild bitterness. A fair dose of bourbon on the back end. When I say 'fair', that is in an Anchorage context. Any other brewer would score a 'bloody big' on the bourbon front. Chocolate coffee ripe bourbon soaked finish, semi dry. A tad dry, but otherwise, the normal Anchorage richness and massive intensity.

Waxed, capped 375 from Tavour. Pours dark brn/blk with a slight rusty tan head. Aroma of chocolate and rye. Very thick in body. Not dry. Bitterness from roast malt and heat. Bitterness does not obscure the malt. Flavor is rye spice, chocolate, whiskey (not bourbon) and maybe a wood note. It's very smooth and quite tasty. Heat is very smoothed out. Quite unusual for the ABV?
