A big, unfiltered American IPA built to accompany the big Eastern Winter. Just like an epic bluebird day follows a snow storm, a peppery build from the Rye-malt accompanies glorious hop notes of pine, citrus and fresh grass. The bold Rye-malt backbone warms the soul, whether after a long day on the slopes with your buds, or just sitting in front of the fireplace at home.

Pours a hazy orange-amber color with a medium thick foamy white head that diminishes slowly. Patchy lacing on the glass. Piney hops and malt in the nose. Medium body with flavors of resiny hops, earthy malt and a bit of spicy rye. The finish is moderately bitter with a hops and citrus aftertaste. Decent overall.

Draft at Whole Foods Charlottesville. Pours a hazy amber color with a medium sized frothy tan head. Decent head retention. Toasted malt aroma with a mild rye finish. The taste is strong rye, herbal hops, toasted malts and mild vegetal and banana notes. Medium bodied.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 12/29/13

Aroma: The nose is pine hops, spice, and rye bread, with some underlying citrus notes
Appearance: It pours a cloudy orange color with thick, frothy off-white head and drippy lace
Flavor: It tastes light sweet, with plenty of spice and rye, and a medium-plus pine/earth bitterness
Palate: The body is medium, it has a tingly feel, lively carbonation, and a nice, dry finish
Overall Impression: Nicely done by Otter Creek with this one. It may not be an amazing beer, but it does a really nice job of hitting all the marks that I am looking for in a rye IPA. The rye malt flavor comes through nicely.

Total Wine, McLean 12oz: Pours hazy copper with a whitish head. Aroma is a mellow mix of hops: some pine, tropical fruits, and citrus. Nice slightly bitter body, but the hops are not overwhelming. This is still certainly east coast. Yet, it is subtle and well-balanced. The rye malt backbone gives it a nice touch as well.
