Bottleshare at Matteo’s. Thanks to Colin for the can. Almost opaque dark brown beer, small tan head. Palate is smooth and semi dry, reasonable carbonation. Mildly tangy dark malts, smooth dark chocolate. Tangy dark fruits. Smooth finish. Decent dark chocolate, otherwise just another stout.

Can from Bine & Vine. Pours dark brown with a foamy/creamy dark tan head. Aroma of smooth dark malt with hints of chocolate and smoke. Med + body or so. Flavor is smooth dark malt and chocolate and, seriously, smoke. It’s very earthy too. In a way it reminds of sucking on a piece of baking chocolate - not that extreme, but related. Not your grandfather’s oatmeal stout. Finishing quite dry for me. I am slightly stunned.

Can. dark brown color, beige head with good retention. Aroma has chocolate, coffee, licorice. Taste has cocoa and espresso. tTsty.

473ml can from Boxbeers. Pours pitch black with a thick brown head. Aroma of roasty malts, coffee, chocolate and hints of rye. Taste is smooth, slightly sweetish and roasty with some coffee, chocolate and rye. Finish is sweet, slightly roasty and earthy with hints of chocolate, coffee and licorice. Okay stout.

Oatmeal stout brewed at Two Roads by Evil Twin, can at Struise shop in Bruges. Moussy, deeply tan, lacing, stable head over an ink black beer. Aroma of toasted brown bread, ’natural’ iron, bitter chocolate, minerals, salmiak, burnt cereals, beef stock cubes, bayleaf. Some very subdued dried fruit sweetishness but much more umami (cured meat) with a sourish undercurrent, bit minerally as well, spicy aspects early on; rather spritzy carbonation, above average for any stout actually, distracting from an otherwise smooth, rounded, oily mouthfeel. Strongly toasted bitterish middle with bitter chocolate impressions and burnt grains, reinforced by a peppery hop bitter note in the end, finishing very dry. Pleasant enough but a tad overcarbonated, so that the typical velvety mouthfeel established by the oats is not quite achieved.

Can sample at a tasting at Dancing Camel. Thanks troubles. Black with a tan head. Roasty aroma with coffee, chocolate, cocoa. Bittersweet flavor, roasty, with chocolate and some coffee. Medium-bodied.

0,5 boks fra Kihoskh, delt med Kitty på hytta: brunsvart med upåklagelig skum. God arma af mørkrøstede malter, mørk chokolade og kaffe. Superfed smag hvor jeg også fornemmer lakrids. Dejlig bitterhed i afslutningen. Ret tør og meget nem at helde indpå.

Dmac trade. 16oz can nice tan-black. A-roasty/chocolate. Later licorice-dk malty. T-roasty/chocolate/licorice-dk malt, slight soy, some hop bite/astringency.

Can shared at the inaugural Matteo tasting, 31/10/2016. Many thanks to Colin for this one. A dark black mahogany brown coloured pour with a lasting dark tan head. Aroma is earthy roast, coffee, bean, soy, red berry fruit. Flavour is composed of dark choc, red fruits, earth. Roast. Palate is medium bodied, moderate carbonation, bitter ash roast in the finish. Not bad.
