Our one and only beer coming in from out of state this year, this anniversary collaboration was brewed with Breakside Brewery in Portland β a powerhouse of the Pacific Northwest with a relentless pursuit of quality across everything they do. When we sat down with Breakside's brewmaster Ben Edmunds to work through the recipe, the conversation naturally turned to brewing a version of Pacific Portal the Breakside way. The structural bones are familiar, but watching Ben and his team make their adjustments β in raw materials, in process, in perspective β was a reminder of what makes this industry so worth being in. The resulting beer is clean and grippy, with full hop saturation from start to finish. There's a tropical sweetness up front β pineapple, blood orange, pine β that gives way to something dry, dank, and deeply satisfying. We're so grateful to Breakside for having us out to Portland, and we can't wait to share this one with Kansas City!

16 oz can purchased at Alma Mader brewing in Kansas City, Missouri as part of the Alma Mader 7th Anniversary 6 pack. The pour is a clear golden with a big foamy two inch head that is lasting and falls slow with lace. The aroma is crazy bright; big tangerine, resin, pine, floral and honey malt. The taste is tangerine peel bitterness, citrus fruit, resin, pine and earth towards the back. The honey malt's slight sweetness comes out a touch as beer warms. The palate is medium bodied with active carbonation and a dry mineral bitter finish. Very fresh and really well made.
