With this Imperial Stout, Latvian Ārpus Brewing Co. once again proves why they are among Europe's leading brewers of massive, intensely flavorful beers. The "Hazelnut x Chocolate x Vanilla" is a true feast for the senses and a prime example of a modern pastry stout. At 13% ABV, this jet-black elixir boasts remarkable viscosity and an oily, creamy mouthfeel. The combination of roasted cocoa notes, the intense nuttiness of freshly roasted hazelnuts, and the delicate sweetness of real vanilla evokes the taste of fine pralines or a rich chocolate dessert. Can picked up from Beyond Beer webshop Hamburg and consumed sat in Frank at Freising P&R campervan area, Wednesday 15th April 2026. Pours pitch black with a large light beige head, though this was fast disappearing. Thick oily texture in the mouth, sweet however not so bad as there is a roastiness. The nuttiness tastes a bit more peanut than hazelnut but it's certainly nutty. Chocolate is there in abundance, the vanilla adds a creamy edge. There is a little artificial edge to this but it's not bad and I can certainly forgive it as it's still a very good impy stout. Btw we had a very nice meal at Mono Vietnamese Kitchen in Freising tonight. Score: 7.6
