Zwanze 2026 is truly a unique beer!
The three young men at the helm of Vermouth Sullivan - Florian, Vincent and Paul - launched their production of traditional vermouth in 2021 in Besançon, located in eastern France. By macerating a blend of herbs, plants, and roots in 60-proof alcohol, they’ve dreamed up two elixirs to blend with our beer.
Made with wormwood, marjoram, verbena, rosebuds, curry plant, and other herbs and roots, was added at a concentration of 3.5% to our Kriek to create Artémis La Rouge.

Cloudy ruby red with minimal head. Herbal vermouth, cherry, biscuit malt, vinegar, Brett, and hay aroma. Moderately sweet herbal cherry, biscuit malt, moderately sour vinegar, and mildly bitter herb and hay flavor. Nice body. Excellent.

Monk's: pours light bright red with a small white head. Aroma is vermouth, cherries, very funky. Complex and pretty weird. Vermouth and herbals flavors all over overlaying the fruitiness. Very nice.

It’s a great beer. Rich dark and leathery berry with an herbal edge. Mellow acidity. Some earthy qualities. Seedy bitterness. Grape skins. Bit of wood. The depth is considerable. The finish is excellent. The beer is outstanding.

Draft pour at Zwanze Day 2026, at The Sovereign in Washington DC. Poured a clear, dark ruby red cherry color with a medium sized light pink head. Aroma is a wormwood, vermouth, taste of cherries. Light red grape, but with a big cherry flavor. Very nice stuff. Big and bold, not very subtle, but quite, quite good. I really, really liked this one quite a bit.

Aroma: full of sweet cherries, smells like a kompot.
Taste: along the same lines, cherry pits, some funk, low to moderately acidic and dry
Overall: it's pleasant, but would be cool to have more of lambic funk here.

Hazy deep red colour and a beautiful purple head. Aroma's of sweet cherries, cherry pith, light sweet & sour. Retronasal there's a lot of cherries, it's sourish, light sweet, woody, herbs. Flavour is moderate sour, light sweet, cherry pith. Light medium bodied. Flavour lingers a long time and has some herbal and woddy bitterness.

Distinct vermuth aroma in a nice blend with of dark fruits, wooden cask.
Fruity taste with a bit of cherrie pits and a balanced acidity that gives a fresh fruity taste.
