Bottle - Fruit esters, apricot, orange, syrup and bit of booze. Clear gold with a thin white head. Syrup, apricot and booze. Tastes more like a barley wine and I don’t get any of the wood. Not nearly as good as the old recipe.

Flaska från SB. Kopparfärgad, klar vätska, lågt skum. Maltsötdoft utan några humleinslag, honung, vanillin och en lite oväntad ton av blåmögelost. Söt, väl dold alkohol, honung, sav, vanillin som drar åt sololja med kokas, aningen mögel och lite savig beska. Känns väldigt experimentartad och inte helt lyckad.

Smak och doft av humle, malt, honung, blåmögelost, trä, björksav med toner av kokos. Fruktig, syrlig. Beska med smak av tuggade björklöv.

Bottle from Systembolaget, bought in August 2013. Almost clear golden with a small head. Pine, citrus, toffee, malt and some light wood. Also some warming alcohol. An ok one.

Orange/amber colour. Mid-sized head. Sour birch aroma with notes of caramel, honey, glue and alcohol. Sour and dry flavour of birch syrup, birch wood, marzipan and alcohol. Interesting, but gets a little bit too much in the long run.

Bomber from CraftShack. Pours light copper with a foamy off-white head. Odd woody aroma. Full bodied. Flavor is sweet malt with a odd woody aspect. I have no idea what birch tastes like, but this must be it. It’s certainly sweeter than not, and I’m not getting a lot of hop. Yet the woodiness is contributing some bitter to combat the malt. Quite different, and tasty in its own way.

Bottle. Almost clear golden liquid with small to medium white head. Aroma of wood, coconut, citrus, pine, caramel, toffee and vanilla. Taste is light sweet and light to medum bodied with notes of coconut, pine, citrus and toffee. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. OK but not really a DIPA.

Hazy golden color with small head. Medium depth aroma of malt, toffee and vanilla. Well sweet but not syrupy/thick; strong toffee and fresh wood flavor; quite strong bitterness, balanced. Soft tannins in the end. Monodimensional oaked beer, but pleasant for my liking.

10.2% a surprising honey gold color, for some reason I was expecting a dark beer. Nice foamy head, malty spice kind of caramel/crystal malt aroma? Sweet, probably from the birch syrup. The taste is quite woodsy! Nice malt flavor, then I get vanilla & rum or tequila like notes from the wood. Interesting but boozy with definite warming. As I continued drinking it, it really grew on me. Nice stuff.
