Oaxacan-Style Dark Ale brewed with piloncillo sugar and chile ancho. 5 Vulture is a deep amber-colored ale with complex caramel aromas with toasted sugar notes and a long, elegant spicy finish. Roasted ancho chile is used to add depth and complexity, without adding heat or strong chile flavors.

Bottle @ home, courtesy of TheAlum. Thanks Adam! Pours an orangish brown appearance with a thin tan head. Chocolate and veggie aroma. Some cinnamon / chili spiciness. Kind of thin body. Spicy, minty chocolate, celery flavor. Pretty sweet. Low bitterness. Gross.

Bottle. Somewhat thin looking deep brown body with reddish highlights and a big tan fluffy head. Aromas are nuts, toffee, roast and a little vegetable matter (ancho?). Flavor is sweet and dusty with a little bit of smokey heat in the finish. Not much, but it is there. The sweetness is distracting though, and the whole beer comes across as a little under attenuated in my book.

12oz bottle with no date but purchased at Trader Joe’s, so hopefully pretty fresh. Pours with a medium sized head into an old school Hoegaarden tulip glass. Head fades to a thick tan surface covering lacing. Color is a beautiful dark ruby chestnut. Aroma first presents the ancho chile but without the burn, actual just a dry pepper aroma. Its not strong, just moderate and the first element to present itself. Behind that is just a great clean beer with soft caramel malt sweetness (not sugar). Earthy, clean, and sweet - almost perfect. Nice medium light but felt body with a perfectly melded carbonation. Flavor seems to lose all pepper and ends up with the clean sweet and earthy character. Pretty wonderful as well. Just a damn well made beer with a bit of ancho character on the nose.

12oz bottle. Amber-brown body, respectable beige head. Big fruity ancho pepper aroma, coupled with some mild caramel chocolate. An interesting enough beer, sort of a Schwarz with some mild pepper tones. Not really balanced though, kind of a mess. Worthy of a tick, but probably not one to seek out.

Draft. Probably my least favorite of the 5 rabbit beers. Just kinda boring. Its like a dark version of your standard pale lager. The chilis dont really come out to play at all. Meh.

Dark amber pour with a medium light beige head that recedes steadily. Strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of malt, caramel and dark fruits. Medium-bodied with flavors of caramel malt, peppers and figs. The finish is malty up front with a mild peppery aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.

Bottle. Brown sugar, caramel, and very light chili aroma. Deep chestnut with a large beige head. Caramel malt, herbal bitter chili flavor. No heat to speak of, just vegetal bitter pepper flavor. Medium body, soft carbonation.

Bottle w/ twist off cap. Sterile vanilla aroma. Brown liquid. Quite strong on the taste buds, a new strong sensation. Hah, a pretty good craft beer from minhas. A little too strong for me but I bet you’ll like it.

From the July 3R6P tasting. +++ Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark nut brown color with a huge foamy beige head that lingered and left great lacing. The aroma was malty and nutty with a hot pepper presence. The flavor was tangy, malty and a touch skunky with notes of nut and hot peppers. The finish was medium length tangy, nutty and hot pepper. Medium body. Odd.
