16oz can, undated, from Brown Derby Wines, drunk 11/2/15.
Clear, light golden liquid has a hint of copper to it. Very low carbonation visible creating a cover of white head that rapidly fizzles.
Wow. That’s certainly a unique aroma. Chipotle, sweet, juicy pineapple and rich honey notes all burst forth, the nicely dry smokiness probably taking the lead. It dosent smell artificial in the least and all elements are pretty well balanced together. I could see a little bit more honey quality being desirable in the nose, but then, the mead would end up having to be sweeter. Clean, as well, with no alcohol.
Smoke and pineapple in the flavor, immediately balancing each other’s sweet and dry elements. Honey and light esters emerge through the middle, with some vanilla and black pepper like notes as well. The carbonation is low, but certainly still appropriate. It could be a bit tighter, which would give the mead a creamier consistency. As is, it’s quite watery. Of course, there’s no telling whether that would be more desirable than this; I certainly can appreciate the very drinkable, light-bodied nature of it. I was hoping for a bit more spiciness to it; as is, there’s almost none. But you certainly can’t complain about the fresh, fleshy, authentic pepper flavor and dry but nicely rich smoke. Would certainly buy more of their meads and perhaps will trade for some. It’s nice to see a mid-abv, drinkable, more dry mead (still bursting with flavor).

Sample at Great Arkansas beer festival. Nice combination of light smoke and fleshy jalapeno, works quite well.
