Beyond Youth continues our Quadruple Hazy IPA series. This time with Nelson Sauvin, Motueka and Riwaka. For a couple of our latest QIPAs we have found a yeast that attenuates these big beers a bit drier than before. I feel it gives these big ones more drinkability and lets the hops shine even more. Expect notes of Nelson’s earthiness, white wine, lime and bright grapefruit.

Canned 440ml. -at Goblet Zagreb, shared with Hrabren. Hazy pale golden coloured, medium sized white to off-white head, light grapefruit and mild alcohol in the nose. Citrusy, grapefruity, light resiny and heavy alcohol with grassy notes in the finish. Despite strong alcohol not so hard to drink.

0.44 l can shared with Ogi at Goblet Beer Store, Zagreb. Unclear golden, small off-white head. Aroma is moderately hoppy, fruity, stone fruit, strawberry, also kaki and hints of white grapes. Smooth, juicy, alcohol hidden in the flavour. Flavour is stone fruit, some berries. Some malts. Sweet, not too sweet. Some alcohol warmth in the finish.

Smell of grapefruit. Cloudy yellow colour, white head. Aroma of overripe fruit, booze, grapefruit, some oaty note. Way too overstrong. Soft carbon. Slightly slick texture.

Motueka certainly taking the lead here for me with zesty citrus lime and lemon to the fore, just a “smidgen” of Nelson white wine and gooseberry chiming in, sweet malty backbone, finishes with a tangy zesty drying fruity warming hoppy close.

0,44l can from the brewery. Canned 14.04.2026, bbe 02/2027. 10 days old stuff. Murky orange yellow beer with stable, medium white head. Aroma is lime, tropical and stone fruits. Flavor is lime, grapefruit, some other tropical fruits, white grapes. Some herbal/soapy noted too. Quite smooth, even though there is some booze too.
