The Thunderweizen is brewed in the style of a traditional German Hefeweizen: lots of wheat, vigorous fermentation, and completely unfiltered for a full, refreshing flavor that perfectly compliments San Diego’s perpetual good weather. Despite the hints of banana, citrus, clove, and other spices, we do not add additives to our beer - that impressive flavor is naturally produced.

[2/21/15] Draught at Winter Brew Fest 2015 in San Diego. Nice cloudy pale yellow. Aroma of rotten fruits and wheat. Sweetish fruity flavor with some spicy phenols later. Not a good Weizen.

Bottle. Hazy gold with a modest white head for a hefe. Wheaty bread aroma with lemon, peach, more vanilla than banana, cloves. Lovely creamy texture. Bready, sweet and fruity with a distinct tanginess and (maybe slightly over-) prominent cloves. Not all that much banana, which is very much to my taste. Rustic and refreshing.

Bottle. Strong Brett, yeast, coriander, and wheat malt aroma. Golden yellow with moderate head. Sweet orange/banana and wheat malt flavor with moderate Brett finish. Very good - doesn’t have much in the way of typical Weizen aroma or taste but still nice.
