The tradition of the Maibock beer began in the 14th century in Einbeck, Germany. This bock beer style was so popular the brewmaster was lured away by the Bavarians to replicate the style. Gordon Biersch Maibock is rich and full-bodied, emphasizing dark roasted, caramelized Munich malt and brewed in accordance to the German Purity Law of 1516.

Old rating from 2002 - Pint at the brewpub in San Jose. Pours hazy amber with a white head. Aromas & tastes of fruit, caramel, nuts, hints of spice & malt. Medium body. Dry crisp mild bitter finish

Tap at GB Annapolis. Bright, thick golden body. Steady, creamy, white head. Bravo hops seem to be an unfortunate choice, adding some resinous bitterness that gives it some chewiness, but leads it towards IPL. Full bodied, a decent enough Hellerbock, just not really the truest Mailbock.

27/6/2018. Draught at the Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant, Las Vegas. Pours hazy amber colour with a small just off-white head. Aroma of malt, fruit, caramel and hint of spice. Medium sweetness and moderate bitterness. Medium to full body, oily texture, very soft carbonation. Quite decent.

Tap at GB @SFO. Very caramel, more doppelbock than heller bock. Sweet, molasses, toffee. Not much of a head, slightly sticky body. Not what I was expecting.

Sampled on draft at the Las Vegas location this beer poured a murky dark amber color with a large creamy orange-white head that lingered forever and left great lacing. The aroma was sweet and yeasty with golden fruits. The flavor was sweet and tangy golden fruits, sugar, bread dough and a touch of booze. Long finish. Full body. Excellent.

On draft at the Mad Fox Maibock festival 2014. Pours a clear gold with an off white head. Malty nose with caramel notes. Sweet taste. Medium body with soft carbonation

Tap at Dulles pub. Pretty orange-brown color with a fine, tall head. Fruity, caramel nose. Sweet caramel flavor, rather one dimensional, malt straightforward but not quite cloying. Nicely bitter in the finish. Ok.
