12 ounce bottle from Total Wine Chesapeake, VA, opened 7/15/11. Kinda surprised I haven’t had this one yet. Pours a clear copper color with a large tan head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of toasted malts, caramel, apple, floral hops. The taste is toasted malts with a slight grassy hop finish. Medium bodied.

A golden amber bock with a thick lacing off white head. In aroma, nice herbal malts, with light solvent points. In mouth, a good malty bock with light sweet and nutty points, a bit lighter than expected, but very quaffable. On tap at GB Cleveland airport, Sept. 6 2010.

Pours with a hazy orange body and a long lasting off-white head. Aroma of fruity esters, dry grain, grass, alcohol caramel. A bit of "generic German beer smell" (pils malt + noble hops?). A bit of dust. Flavor is a bit bitter, butter, caramel, toast, bread, some fruitiness. Creamy to fizzy bubbles. Not bad.

Bottle from Bottle Barn in Santa Rosa, CA. Pours ruddy copper with a creamy off-white head. Bready aroma. Hints of spice and grass. Medium body with almost creamy carbonation. Flavor is bready, and there is some grass/herb bitter, but it is bready and finishes that way. It could stand some kick. Eh. Maybe that wouldn’t be to style. It’s an ok drink. Should be satisfactory as a lenten substitute. Liquid bread.

From tap at SFO airport. Pours clear and golden orange with a small tan head. Roasted malty aroma. Roasted and breadish flavoured. Dry and bitter. Lasting bitter impression. Simple and with a distinct Gordon Biersch housecharacter.

Sampler @ Bolingbrook, abv listed as 7.0%. Brown color between caramel and iced tea. Smell has nice notes of caramel and orange. Surprised to find more of a hefeweizen taste at the start. A slightly thicker, sweeter malt mouthfeel, reminds me of a Belgian ale. A strange combination of flavors, with a solid set of bock malts sliding in under the throw to home plate. Only gets dinged for not sticking to style.
