Bottle at home. Aroma is slightly toasted malt, berries, touch of unfresh fruits, some caramel toffee. Flavour is moderate sweet and light bitter. Body is medium. Dull Pale Ale, lacks hops and character.

Keg at Bilcos, Napa, 01/02/16. Pale golden blonde with a decent off white covering. Nose is light citric peel, straw, toasted malt, orange. Taste comprises grassy hop, light cereal notes, clementines, toasted bread, lemon rind, grain. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. So so but drinkable.

On tap at Bilcos. Pours a hazy gold with small frothy white head that lasts. The aroma is faint wheat and grass. Medium mouth, wheat, corn malt, light finish, decent.

Bottle from favourite beer, Cheltenham. Golden colour with a shite head. Aroma is surprisingly malty, and less hoppy than I expected. Taste is a touch sweet.

355ml bottle. Clear, orangey golden colour with small, frothy, diminishing, white head. Biscuity, malty aroma with cautious honey touch, vegy, yeasty overtones, some orange zest. Taste is minimally sweet fruity, hints of orange and mandarine, light body, slightly watery. Loveless, anaemic, refutes any positive prejudice about California (concerning beer, of course, not e.g. the weather).
