A blend of whiskey barrel, wine foeder, and stainless aged sour beers, Love Child No. 4 opens with an aroma of red fruit and underripe strawberries. Slightly more acidic than previous Love Child releases, this blend marries dark fruit flavors with subtle earthy notes of leather and mushroom with a lingering, acid finish that closes crisp and dry.

Bottle from the T of Bois. It pours hazy amber with a medium white head The nose is soft, woody, damp leaf, juicy stone fruits, apricot, peach, apple skin, sherbet and some acidity. The taste is crisp, tart, sherbet, big mouth-pucker, acidity, grapefruit, musty, damp wood, sharp lemon, lactic acid, brett, Irn Bru, orange and tangerine with a dry finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. A bit sharp yes, but pretty enjoyable.

Bottle shared in London - many thanks to Colin. Pours unclear amber-gold with a foamy off-white head. Strong acetic aroma, some tangy citrus. Light-medium sweet flavor with strong, bracing acetic bite, some tangerine, lemon, sweat and vinegar. Medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Sharp acetic finish with lots of lemon, more vinegar, salty sweat. Quite sharp.

Bottle bought @ Systembolaget. Pours hazy deep brownish red with a frothy pinkish white head that slowly dissipates while leaving a small trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is sour and slightly malty with bread, caramel, lemon juice, raspberries, sour cherries, moist sold, red wine vinegar, dark grapes, charred wood, kumquats, barnyard, moist soil, hay and lemon zest. Taste is sweet and sour with bread, lemon juice, grapefruit juice, grapes, kumquats, blackberries, sour milk, moist wood, hay, dry soil, barnyard, red wine vinegar, apple cider vinegar and lemon zest. Mouthfeel is dry, tart, tiny mouth-puckering and medium bodied. Finish is sour with bread, lemon juice, sour milk, red wine vinegar, raspberries, dry soil, hay, barnyard, kumquats and lemon zest. Very solid US sour...

Three bottle side by side tasting of Love Child #2 (provided by csbosox), Love Child #3 (purchased at Lancaster Liquors in Leawood, Kansas) and Love Child #4 (purchased at Lancaster Liquors in Leawood, Kansas). The #3 and #4 were stored since purchase in a wine fridge at ~ 55 degrees.
Love Child #2. The pour is a slight haze golden auburn with no head. The aroma is lactic, sour wood and some cherry fruit. Of the three, this nose was the dirtiest and most wild smelling. The taste the sour wood, cherry and lactic sour in the finish. The palate is medium bodied, slick mouth feel and a sour Flanders finish. I remember liking this fresh better. (7,4,6,4,14 – 3.5)
Love Child #3. The pour is a clear golden auburn with a small off white head. The aroma is a nice balance of oak, wood and sour cherry. The taste is the most traditional Sour Flanders tasting of the three, with the cherry, wood and sour lactic all in a nice balance. The palate is medium bodied, slick mouth feel and a sour Flanders finish. I thought the nose was less vibrant than when fresh, otherwise this beer held up quite well. (7,4,8,4,18 – 3.9)
Love Child #4. The pour is a clear golden auburn with a small off white head. The aroma is similarly balanced to the #3, with the oak wood and sour cherry. The taste is round cherry fruit, blended with sour citrus and a nice oak in the back. The palate is medium bodied, slick mouth feel and a sour Flanders finish. I preferred this over the to older versions - though #3 and #4 were both great. (8,4,8,4,16 – 4.0)

Bottled:
Pours reddish amber with a small head.
Sour lambic-like aroma with lots of lemons and some nettles.
Taste is very sour and has notes of sour apples, lemons, grape fruit with some raisins in the background.
Really good but it might not be a beer for everyone.
